It seems that a re-run of the Club league race isn't going to be happening, so as an alternative I'm proposing to run a stand alone club race (Orwell only) if there is sufficient interest.

Start time 10:30 from Black Bull, route shown here. Just the one lap to save having to marshall the turn back onto the Trim road giving a distance of 30km, so it'll be short and sharp. All going to plan, everyone will get home in time to catch the rugby, and it won't take too much out anyone who's planning on racing Dundalk on Sunday.

We have a few marshalls, we have a prize (thanks to Joe Daly's), if we get some riders now I'll run a race. Anyone who is interested let me know.

Good race today, well done to all who took part. We had nine riders making their racing debut, all of whom seemed happy enough at the end. It was certainly a nicer day to have your first race than last Sunday would have been.

The placings were:
1st Tom Blennerhassett
2nd John Latham
3rd Patrick O'Brien
4th Ian O'Connell
5th Romano Morelli
6th Michael Hanley

3 limit riders and three semi-limit in the placings, with scratch trailing in about 30 seconds later.
Special mention has to go to Joe McSherry, who after a 20 year break from cycling turned down the chance to ride in the limit group, apparently didn't think much of semi-limit either, and instead jumped straight in with scratch. He managed to hang on to them too, so he obviously hasn't lost it in the intervening years.

Thanks to Dave and Declan for giving up their morning. It was a great race and fair play to Tom for taking a win on his first time out.
