I want to race it but I don't know the rules, can anyone join any team? Are there limits on how many S / SS etc riders in a team, how many on the team, how long is the race.
In any case I'm looking for a team
Riders can be drawn from any club, ability or age groups, though if riders are of similar ability things generally work a lot better. Usually the top riders make up teams within their own clubs before the race, Limit/Semi-limit riders tend to rock up to the line and go on whatever team they're put with. Teams are to be made up of three or four riders.
The team's time will be taken on the third rider to cross the line, so obviously if you have a fourth rider you have more leeway to lose one to puncture, inability to keep up, or whatever. The usual time trial format will apply, ie; one minute gaps at the start, no drafting except between team-mates etc. Points will be awarded 11-10-9-8-7-6 to the first six teams, with all riders on a team gaining the points.
The route will probably be the same as last year, which was two laps of the Manor Kilbride circuit (not the one we've been using this year). I'll post a map shortly, but the distance will be 30km. Teams and times from last year can be viewed in the 2009 league table on the front page of this site.
