TOPIC: Final league race and prize night

Final league race and prize night 1 year, 5 months ago #976

The final race of this years league will be held tomorrow night around Batterstown.

The sign on and start will be at Black Bull (the usual), but the finish and prizegiving will be in Batterstown, so it might make sense for people who are driving out to park up in Batterstown beforehand and ride back to the start.

The prizegiving will be happening from 8:30 in Caffrey's pub, with prizes for the first 25 riders in the league. All are welcome, feel free to bring friends and family. The club prizes won't be happening until the Christmas party at the end of the year though, so it's league prizes only.

We have no marshalls rostered for this race, so we're looking for volunteers who want to help out. There are quite a few riders who have raced but haven't marshalled, so if you have a guilty conscience this'll be your last chance to make amends. If you are prepared to marshall please let me know in advance.

Hey Dave,
I got lost the night I was down to marshall. Ended up down on the toll. Anyway I'll be there to race(only my fourth RR). So if you want to pull me out to marshall thats fine but surely you want me to gain as much racing experience as possble, nudge nudge, wink wink!!

Gary.

It will probably be one lap of the Mullagh, decision to be made at sign-on time.

So while most of the clubs have their final placings settled up already, it's all still to play for regarding the Orwell prizes.

If Pat Conlon picks up a 5th or better he'll win the trophy regardless of anything anyone else might do, and if limit or semi-limit stay away then everything remains as is, but if semi-scratch take the placings things start to get interesting.

Patrick O'Brien can still take the overall if he picks up a 1st or 2nd tonight, and Tom Blennerhasset is still in with a shot but only a win will do it for him.

Perhaps a more likely outcome- Tom can move up to 2nd overall if he can finish 2 places or better ahead of Pat O'B., so watch for Pat sitting on Tom's wheel for the duration.

Also still in the calculations at this stage, though a bit of a long shot, Diarmuid Collins can take 3rd place from Tom if he wins tonight and Tom fails to place at all.

Great finish to a very enjoyable season. Thanks to all involved in the organisation of the races especially Dave who put in an phenomenal amount of work into the league.

Yep it's been a great year and I think Dave has done an outstanding job.

I agree also.. it was a thrilling league and I really enjoyed all of the races. It would never have happened without the enormous effort of organisers, Dave Mc in particular who did a fantastic job and deserves huge credit. Thank you.

My 1st year racing and it was fun .... bloody hard, but fun. Thanks to Dave and also Aideen for the encouragements.

Echoing the thoughts already posted, well done to Dave (and Brian H) for going above and beyond in managing a great club league season. Especially appreciated were the new innovations like the run up to Sally Gap. I hope to see more interesting changes in the season to come. And well done to all the new league racers, who managed a very impressive first racing season, and put some of us who've been around a few years now to shame!

Yep, a great job by Dave Mc and all the other organisiers. I for one appreciate all the good work you guys put in to organising (including shovelling us all out for marshalling duties) the races this year. It's been really enjoyable, not half because of the good organisation.

Roll on the 2011 league.
