26/01/15 - Racing talk with Brian Ahern was created by Michael Hanley
Title: Racing talk with Brian Ahern
Date: 26th January 2015 at 19:30
Location: Ballinteer Community School, Broadford Road, Ballinteer, Dublin 16, Ireland ( map )
For anyone new to the club, Brian is a former Junior Tour of Ireland winner and has numerous top 10 placings in Ras stages (for more information and a good read to boot, check out his interview here ).
The format is to have a 30 minute talk followed by 45 minutes to an hour of questions*
The talk will include some of the topics below:
Introduction
Setting Goals
Adjusting your lifestyle to reach those goals
Motivation - or how to keep on track and not get disheartened!
Proper diet
Race preparation
Racing etiquette
Example race scenarios - a few key moments of when things went right and when they went wrong and what I learned
We would encourage anyone from the most experienced racer to club league newcomers to attend and glean as much information as possible from Brian and his wealth of experience. It should prove to be a very interesting evening.
* Please note, Brian will not be fielding questions about his short lived rollerblading career.

I just wanted to thank Brian Ahern for an excellent evening. It was most informative and interesting and much appreciated.
I must commend him on his modesty. If I'd beaten Cav in a sprint I'd get a Tshirt made up and never take it off. But nary a peep from him.
But I still don't know what he's got against muffins.

You're welcome folks. Hopefully I didn't waffle too much and you took something useful away from it!
