La Vuelta 2015 Fantasy League was created by Darragh Connolly
Hola compadres,
After the huge success of the Tour de France version, I have set up a league for anyone who wants to participate for La Vuelta.
Same as last time. ID number is 76451 and it's the standard version. I think it's set up correctly but let me know if you have any problems.
Can we keep Gar off the podium again? Can Brian Mc pace himself better this time? Can Jules complete the elusive double of Vuelta and Tour in same year? (A feat only ever completed by some other bloke!)
If this is not enough to whet your appetite, the player in First Place at the end wins a bottle of Prosecco and a mixed board for 2 in The Cavern at Baggot St Wines!! Thanks to Gar for this very generous contribution.
All will be revealed over the next few weeks so submit your team name, I'll approve, and let the fun begin!
Viva La Vuelta!

Que Emocionante!!!
Hoy es el día! Bienvenido a La Vuelta. Just a few issues with the course today which hopefully won't interfere too much with our fantasy league. We are now 10 so that's great! Here is the full list but there is still time if anyone else fancies it. Some mystery names in there if anyone would like to reveal their identity, but no obligation to do so unless you win and want to claim your prize!

What's this about TDF points carrying forward into Vuelta! Stewards inquiry I think.

Hola,
It's the first rest day of La Vuelta after Week 1, so a good opportunity to give you an update on the world of fantasy (Gar seems to be living in it in France at the moment if he thinks the Raid is easy!)
After great starts from Gerry (GeeKay) and Louise (Ladyluck), Stephen O'Shea aka Irish Corner Steve has built up an outstanding lead with huge scoring every day last week. Stephen was one of the leading contenders in the Tour de France competition this year as well. Making up the other places on the podium are myself and my dear brother in no particular order. It is expected that Gar will snap out of the fantasy buzz and realise the Raid is extremely difficult, whilst falling rapidly down the league table as he concentrates on real cycling.
The Top Ten
1 Irish Corner IrishCornersteve 1114
2 Team Bonkers Garret Connolly 1027
3 No Sponsor Needed Darragh Connolly 1004
4 Panyaguaywhisky Ado F 976
5 Team Everything Is AWESOME Square Bracket 938
6 ups and downs! Ladyluck 895
7 JellyBellyLegs vandersons 818
8 Stickybottle Niall Kieran 776
9 Rookie in a Small Ring! warrencray 597
10 Team Kitten Soft Paxo GeeKay 563
Saludos,
Darragh

I must find that piece of video footage I have of Gar and Barry descending the Alp D'Huez last year where he was overheard saying - quite clearly and confidently - "It's very easy really". Barry can confirm but we believe he was talking about the Marmotte at the time!
I want to live in Gar's world where everything is easy!!! ;)

Buenos Días Compadres!
Final drive towards the line now for La Vuelta 2015. Stephen continues to dominate this years competition with consistently big scoring every day. Who knows what he could have done in the Tour de France fantasy league if he didn't have to attend the actual Tour as Irish Corner Steve.
The podium places are made up by myself in second and some Garret Connolly fella in third. Ado F and his Paraguaywhisky Team (great name!) has been solid in fourth place and Louise and her Ladyluck charms has been Up and Down but now in 5th!
Anything can happen in the final few days but it now looks very likely that Chaves will win the Time Trial and all the remaining stages to regain and claim the Red Jersey because he is sound and smiles a lot ;-)
Suerte!

Muy Buenas Días,
Alas, the Vuelta is over and this is my last update on the Fantasy League. Below is the final Top Ten.
The Overall Winner, after dominating from the offset with excellent team selections and amazing prediction powers, is Stephen O'Shea aka Irish Corner Steve (ICS). Chapeau Stephen! For your efforts you receive the prize in the Cavern Wine Bar, Dublin's coolest new nightspot.
Garret (former fantasy champion) will be in touch with you to arrange. Well done to everyone who took part, I'm sure you'll all agree it's a bit of craic and gives you a little more interest in the race itself.
