Regular Sunday spins will get off to an intermittent start next month, with the first few weeks restricted to members only. The first Sunday we welcome non-members to trial joining the club will be the 25th October.
Oct 4th - Keith Harte Fundraiser
The new season will kick off with a special set of spins to help raise funds for club member Keith Harte. For those who don't know Keith's current situation, please read more and donate at this page. It would be fantastic to see as many club members as possible out and about for these spins.
Oct 11th - members only spins
This will be business as usual, but for members only. There will be the normal sets of groups going out, with leaders assigned to white and yellow.
Oct 18th - Gerry Brannigan Randonnée
Gerry Brannigan was a very popular member of Orwell Wheelers and the IVCA who died suddenly in October 2006 aged just 52 years.
Each year, we all hear of deaths or serious injuries in our cycling community, be it from an accident or illness and we all wonder if we could be of any help or assistance to cyclists and their families. With this in mind, we established The Gerry Brannigan Benevolent Fund in 2007 to support them through difficult times.
The Gerry Brannigan Memorial Cycle takes place out of Clonee, and is run as a joint effort between several clubs, with Orwell providing marshals on the day. All members will be expected to marshal.
Oct 25th - non-members welcome to join in
From this date onwards, non-members will be welcome to join in on the Sunday spins. You can trial the club by doing guest spins, but our Cycling Insurance limits us to allowing non-members only on three spins.
You first register at Spin Sign-on to allow us to gauge numbers and make sure everyone is looked after. This also serves as your sign-on for insurance purposes
We will publish more details on the winter spins shortly, and joining the club when CI open up membership for 2016.
