And so the journey begins

Massive thanks to everyone for welcoming a new and enthusiastic bunch of ladies into the Orwell family tonight.

Aideen Collard gave a brilliant and informative talk on goal setting and all the basic stuff you need to know when starting out on the bike. Helen Horan was hard at work in the hours before the talk making tea, sandwiches and tasty bites for everyone.

The new women had been informed of a possible presidential visit to Ballinteer School and were looking around for Michael D Higgins . However they were even more impressed when our own club president Denis Gleeson got up and introduced himself followed by some encouraging words.

Emily Brick who only joined last year's beginner group showed up in full Orwell kit to help with the registration and was a great example for the ladies of how hard work and dedication to your cycling goals can get rapid results!

Banter King Eugene SKIL also dropped in for potential banter and got on stage to demonstrate correct helmet fit for the ladies. He was later spotted engaging in banter with many of the new ladies during the post talk tea. Rodney, Gerry and Leonard also came along to lend a hand. The girls are going to be seeing a lot of these lads over the next two months.

They were extremely grateful for the warm welcome received and said they found Aideen's talk really motivating. The 'An Post Tour of Meath' is just two months away. Some ladies will embark on their first ever 100k. Others will attempt the 160k option. We wish them the best of luck on their journey.

Huge thanks to Paddy Doran for providing the ladies with copies of his coaching book. That's their bedtime reading sorted for the week.
