Meanwhile, Celeste Marin led a beginner group of six from Joe Daly Cycles whilst other Orwell women joined the Gorey Racing Group and Leisure Spins.
As the female membership in the Club steadily grows currently representing approx 25% of overall membership, ladies beginner and racing/steady spins are held every Saturday at 9.30am. Led by experienced female members, beginners are introduced to basic bike and group skills whilst the steady/racing group focus on building up strength, distance and skills for sportives and racing. The usual meeting point has been Joe Daly Cycles, Dundrum but on Saturday 4th February 2012, all ladies spins are meeting at the Papal Cross, Phoenix Park @ 9.30am for a one hour skills session including exercises aimed at gaining more confidence on the bike and cycling in a group. Afterwards the participants will be divided into ability groups for a two hour spin arriving back in the Phoenix Park before 1 pm for optional coffee in the Zoo Tearooms. This is a must do session for everyone from beginners to racing riders so we hope to see it well supported and it also promises to be a bit of craic!
