Peter's Perfect Sunday

Peter Killeen's first reaction on receiving the Tara Stainless Trophy on Sunday afternoon was "I'll have to take a mould from that and make my own one!"
The Dublin sculpter's breakthrough win in the A4 race on the Bohermeen CC promotion is certainly worthy of permanent record on Killeen's mantlepiece after he hands back the original next year and it's doubtful that he will derive more pleasure from any subsequent race win.

The Dublin sculpter's breakthrough win in the A4 race on the Bohermeen CC promotion is certainly worthy of permanent record on Killeen's mantlepiece after he hands back the original next year and it's doubtful that he will derive more pleasure from any subsequent race win.
Following some insipring advice from club president Eddie Lynch, Killeen decided to try his luck in the closing stages of the five lap, 57km event rather than waiting for the sprint. Killeen's strength told as he held off the baying pack on the rise to the finish line, celebrating his maiden success and his first ever road race placing, with a clenched fist salute.
There was further joy for Orwell in the A4 race as Peter Gerrard took his first open race placing with fifth in the dash to the line just behind Killeen.
In the A3 race for the Mick McGuire Memorial trophy Declan Quigley sprinted to his second top six placing of the season, edging the battle for fifth by the narrowest of margins in the bunch gallop after 80km.
In the Women's National League event earlier in the day, Michelle Geoghegan (racing in the colours of her Dutch team, Moving Ladies) took third in the bunch sprint which settled affairs following a slightly frustrating day of neautralised attacks.
Orla Hendron displayed further developing form with sixth on the line.
Meanwhile Darragh Long had to settle for fourth in the Under 16 race after another strong performance.
