Last Sunday August 25th saw 1600 competitors from all over Ireland and internationally descend on Dun Laoghaire for the 2019 Ironman 70.3 triathlon. 4 of them were from Scott Orwell, read on to hear how 4 roadies got on in this tough event!

"This is when the second crazy incident of the race happens (and within only a few minutes of the first). Pushing 55km/h, spiralling down the winding corners of the Sheeffry Pass descent on the racing line, cliff faces on one side, cliff edges on the other, Shaun goes into the tightest of the corners ahead of me and out of sight. The next second I come in and around the same corner and come across him immediately in front of me, lying on the ground, face down and completely motionless".

Well for what should have been a relatively quiet week that was interesting!! A snowy Club League kick off, the Waller Cup, IVCA, Youth tour of Scotland and a Junior competing on an Irish Team. This bodes well for a great season ahead.....

This weekend was a big one for the club - the first round of the National Road Series and a selection race for our youths! In between were sandwiched an IVCA race and the final round of the SERC TT Series. Plenty there to keep us busy

Despite being only 3 weeks old the Racing Season feels like it is back into full swing already. This weekend we had a quiet Saturday followed by a flurry of results on Sunday - covering everything from Youths, Juniors, Seniors and Vets! G'wan The Orwell

What a weekend that was! Loads happening - we take in the Club Hill Climb Champs, the BAR, The National Youth & Track Championships and a race report from the Leinster Autumn Classic by Eoin Ahern. A write up on the Cal McCarthy Cup by Cahir O'Higgins follows as a separate article. Enjoy!

The season may be slowly coming to an end but there was still plenty of quality racing last weekend! The youths battled it out for the Leinster Road titles, National Championships on the track, the second last round of the National Points series and the Collins Christie Memorial in Navan. And of course not forgetting the battle of the teams for Team Time Trial glory in the club league!

The weekend saw two upgrades in the club - Eoin Byrne to A1 and Anthony Mulholland to A2, the youths were off road at the Cross Country mtb National Champs, the Vets were in Monesterevin and all while Dave Mc was racing around in circles at the 24hour TT in Athy!
