Gridding will take place 5 minutes before the race.

The Men's Championship Race, U12s Championship Race Support Race and Women's Championship Races will be gridded as one race. The Masters and Youth Race will be two separate grids. The Top 20 riders in each grid will be gridded.

Any competitor not present when the gridding commences will forfeit their grid and start from the rear of the race. Spaces cannot be held for riders who are not present when their name is called.

Leinster League of CycloCross Points

Each rider will be awarded points in their race, these will be applied to your standings in the A/B/Women/Underage race where you race. The M40/M50/M60/U14/U16 categories will be scored individually, in races where those categories are available.

Equipment

CycloCross Bikes are required in the Championship Races, except U12. Only bikes described in the UCI Equipment section as "Cyclo Cross bikes" may be used in this race.

Mountain Bikes and CycloCross Bikes are permitted in the other races.

Racing Age

Cycling Ireland CycloCross Rules T9.1.1 states; Irrespective of the category designated on a riders licence, for the Cyclo Cross season riders shall compete in the category they would be allocated from 1st January in the following year.

In practice this means that you must race in the category that you will be choosing for the 2020 National CycloCross Championships.

Medal Eligibility

This is classed as an “Open Championship”, but Eligible Medalists must conform to Provincial Championships Rules T10.A2.1 and T10.A2.2.

This means that riders, regardless of Province, may race for the win, for The Leinster League of CycloCross points.

Only Leinster based riders, cyclists for Leinster clubs and/or unattached riders resident in Leinster, will be awarded medals and titles. One-Day Licensed riders are ineligible to win a medal or title.

We will incorporate an "I am eligible for a Leinster medal Yes/No" question on our sign-up sheet, which defaults to "Yes" So ensure to change this when signing up if you do not fulfil this criteria.

U23 Women, Junior Women and Masters Women are eligible for the Elite Women’s title and medals, as the race lengths are the same, as close as possible to 40 minutes. These groups will also have their own championship podiums.

Minimum Entrants per Category

Rule T10.A2.3 states: Minimum Numbers for each Provincial Championship event will be decided by each province. There is no requirement to have a minimum number of starters to award medals.

We have agreed with Cycling Leinster that there will be no minimum number of entrants for the 2019 Leinster CX Champs.

Race Lengths

CI Rule T9.A2.24 states: Races should not normally exceed 50 minutes in duration for Seniors and 40 minutes for Juniors.

CI Rule T4.A1.1 states: Cyclo Cross: U16 & U14s Max 30 mins, U12 Max 15 min & U8 Max 10 mins

  • 40 minutes for junior men's events

  • 50 minutes for under 23 men's events

  • 60 minutes for the elite men's events and for events in which elite and men under 23 ride together.

During elite women’s events and for events in which women elite and women under 23 ride together, the duration must be between 40 and 50 minutes.
