Overview:

Pinergy Orwell Wheelers will host their annual Cyclocross Race, Round 2 of the Leinster League of Cyclocross, on Sunday 23rd of October 2023 generously sponsored by Joe Daly Cycles, Footprints Early Years Preschool, All-American Laundrette and Bike Fitting Ireland.

 

Location:

The race will be held at The GAP Glencullen, Ballybrack Rd., Glencullen, Dublin, D18 Y673.

The event is fully licenced by Cycling Ireland and all entry is via the Cycling Ireland website events page; cyclingireland.ie Competitors will require a Cycling Ireland licence. One-day licences available via EventMaster side event.

Advance entry only –   no entry on the day.

Adult Entry: €25 pp
U14, U16, Junior: €10 pp
Underage: Free- All entry from U6 to U12 is generously covered by Joe Daly Cycles, Dundrum.

Cycling Ireland require all participants hold a licence to take part. Parents need to acquire a Youth Licence for each child competing from U6 upwards via the Cycling Ireland website before signing up for these races. Cost is €10 and will last until the end of 2023.

There will be a €20 Off a Bike Fit Voucher for Bike Fitting Ireland/Aidan Hammond at Sign-On for all competitors.

 

Safety:

The GAP facilities will be open to the general public on the day, so please exercise caution when walking / cycling between the designated carpark and the course.
Race attendees to follow the directions of event marshals. A First Aid service will be provided at the event.
Young children are to be supervised and kept off the course during races / adult practice sessions.
Please do not litter and please do bring home your recycling / rubbish.

 

Parking:

Race attendees must use the The GAP’s designated parking area (cost of €2 per vehicle).
No parking allowed along the Ballybrack Rd., in Glencullen village or along The GAP entrance road.

 

Course:

The race will be located in the large field to the right-hand side of The GAP entrance road as per the below photo.
The entrance to the course is marked on the map and is via The GAP entrance road. Access to the course is not allowed via the Ballybrack Road or Red House Road.
Collection of race numbers and timing chips will be located close to the entrance to the course.
A large water tanker will be located adjacent to the Pits area for use by Pit Crews.

Course Outline

  

Facilities:

Port-a-loos will be located at the course entrance. Additional toilet facilities are available at The GAP Kitchen (onsite). A full café and food service is available at The Gap Kitchen Café.
Bike cleaning facilities are available adjacent to The GAP main building.

09:30 Sign-On Opens.

09:40 – 10:00 Full Course Practice 20 mins.

10:00 - 11:10 Limited Course Practice during Underage Racing, as the start/finish area and first few corners will be in use.

10:30 Under 10 - 10 mins

10:50 Under 12 - 15 mins

Prizegiving will take place immediately after each underage event (U6 U12)

The Entry Fee for the Underage Racing is kindly covered by Joe Daly Cycles, Dundrum, Dublin 16.

If you need to review your bike fit, the winter is a good time to make these changes, so you can adapt to them before your season.
