I was asked to share information on this event with club members that may not be aware it's on this year.
OldVelos Cycling Festival on August 28th at Curraghmore House Co.Waterford.

This year’s one-day event has something for all cycling enthusiasts from leisure rides, grass track racing, historic 10mile time-trial and the much loved vintage velo expo and Concours d’Elegance competition. Entrants must pre-register for the leisure rides, grasstrack racing and vintage TT on www.oldvelos.com to adhere to Covid precautions.

The 25mile (40K) morning Twine and Tweed cycle sees riders’ cycle along the quietest roads of West Waterford and along the Waterford Greenway, returning to beautiful Curraghmore House. This ride will be suitable for any vintage bike rider, from High Nelly’s of Old to modern classics of the Kelly and Roche era.
Grass track is back! Cyclists and spectators of a certain age will remember grass track racing from sports days of old. OldVelos grass track revival is a must for riders and spectators, with events for modern fixed or cyclocross bikes, including timetrials, sprints, scratch, handicap and pursuit racers. Come and see which club wins the inaugural team prize.

The evening 10mile TT, recalls the days of the Nissan Classic, when fans came to see the fastest cyclists in the world on home roads. The event between Portlaw and O'K Cycles’ home in Carrick-on-Suir (and back) and will be ridden on array of vintage bikes back as far the 1920’s. A must for the competitive rider.

Throughout the day there will be a free exhibition and bike jumble of vintage bikes, jerseys and paraphernalia from cycling’s golden age, while the serious enthusiasts compete for the hotly contested and coveted Concours d’Elégance prizes.About OldVelos: OldVelos celebrates the bike and roads of cycling’s golden era. OldVelos are known for restoring and riding vintage steel bikes, tricycles and any amount of antiquities. Often to be seen wearing woolen jerseys and sporting unusual moustaches, there is no road they are not willing to cycle down. The OldVelos Cycling Festival at Currahgmore House is their sixth vintage event.
