Covid Update October 2021 was created by Eamonn Eaton
Now that the winter spins have commenced and we cycling again in groups it's a good time to refresh ourselves on the Covid Guidelines that are still in place under advice from Cycling Ireland and Sport Ireland. We also welcomed over 70 new members into the club during the summer who we are delighted are now participating in club spins so this might be their first time to hear about the guidelines that are still in place.

Thankfully we are all out and about and free to participate in sporting activities however Covid is still around us and we just need to take some simple precautions to help keep everyone safe and well.

If you find yourself in a crowded situation at the start or end of a spin please remember to wear a mask to protect yourself and others.

Social distancing is still advised so stay alert and manage this carefully.

When stopped for coffee make sure to follow the protocols that the coffee shop has in place and sitting outside is always the safer option.

We are advised not to share equipment and if we do make sure to sanitise the equipment and your hands to minimise the risk to each other. This is easy to forget when someone has a puncture or mechanical as we always step in to help. If this happens then a small bottle of sanitiser or some sanitising wipes are handy to carry with you.

If someone is unwell with symptoms that could suggest a Covid infection, has been diagnosed with Covid, has been a close contact of a confirmed case, has traveled in a vehicle, or been in a closed environment with a confirmed case in the last 14 days you are asked to act responsibly and not participate in club cycles or events.

If you are diagnosed with Covid and have been on a club spin or at a club event in the previous 14 days please let a member of the club committee know.

Group leaders must still register participants on spins on the Cycling Ireland booking system.

This is an important support in the event of the club needing to communicate with members in the event of a positive diagnosis for one of our members. Leaders need to send their CI confirmation email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Many thanks to everyone for all your support and cooperation over the last 18 months and it's up to each of us to continue to do our best to keep ourselves, club members, and families safe.

The Covid Committee
