** The Ras is back **

The premier Road Cycling event of the season,  Rás Tailtean,  is back with us after an absence of four years. Last held in 2018, the event starts this coming Wednesday from Tallaght Stadium at 11.50am.Pinergy Orwell Wheelers have a proud tradition in this event that  was first held in 1953, our crowning glory being  in 1979 when Stephen Roche won the event shortly before bursting onto the world scene in the 1980’s. This year we are proud to announce that the following riders will represent  PInergy Orwell Wheelers:Ronan Grimes -  (A long time Orwell member, a Para - Olympian, and multiple medal winner at European level)Odhran Doogan - ( A guest rider for Orwell who has represented Ireland on many occasions on road & track – Watch out for him on the sprint finishes)Ian Donnelly -  (Another sprint specialist, racing with Orwell three years now, and really looking forward to becoming a “Man of the Rás”Cahir O’Higgins - (The senior man of the  team,  this is a big challenge for the Orwell member who started racing only five years ago,  says he is  more of a sprinter than a climber.)James Davenport – ( Our second guest rider and son of Orwell member, racing since 2009 who says his favourite race is none other than the Stephen Roche GP – maybe a lucky omen)Manager -  Stephen O Shea. (An Orwell stalwart who has managed many successful Orwell racing  teams over the years, and organised the national road racing championships as well.Best of luck to our team in Rás Tailtean 2022
