Kirby Flies as Hendron Takes Over in Brittas

Hendron took over at the head of the women’s standings after a busy handicap race at Brittas last week won by new overall league leader Paul Dolan (Usher Irish Road Club).

Myles Kirby showed impressive form for a new father by sprinting to the flag in third place and just ahead of scratch partner Gary McNulty.

After a fine job by the handicapper, Patrick O’Brien was the leading member of the Semi Limit group which was caught in the wind up to the finishing sprint, the racing rookie retaining enough energy and tactical nouse to hold on for a fine fifth place finish.

Another star rookie Patrick Conlon is Orwell’s leading rider overall, just four points behind Dolan and two and three points respectively ahead of Orwell team mates Gary McNulty and Tom Blennerhassett.

This week’s event is the lung bursting climb of Bohernabreena which, as well as being a league counting event, will also be contested for club championship trophies. Riders are asked to assemble and warm up on the Piperstown Road away from the start line to minimise disruption to traffic on the main road.
