McNulty unstoppable in Roundwood

Ashford Grand Prix, Ashford, Co. Wicklow, Saturday 22nd August

Gary McNulty's prodigious finishing sprint paid dividends once more in Roundwood on Saturday 22 August as he powered in to win the rescheduled Ashford Grand Prix.

A clashing motorsports event forced the promoting club Bray Wheelers to switch the venue of the third category only event to the circuit used for the Christy McManus memorial.

Surprisingly, the challenging topography failed to split the lead group for any length of time and McNulty was on hand to unleash his lethal finishing burst in what could well be his final appearance as a third cat.

Afterwards McNulty paid tribute to the efforts of club mates Patrick Santini and Noel Murphy in marshalling the main group in the closing stages. "They did a great job of closing down a few moves and kept things together for the finish," he said.
