Smyth in record form in Wales

Enda SmythOrwell Wheeler Enda Smyth set a new Irish record of 1:15.025 in the 1km Time Trial competing in the CP4 category of the Paralympic International Grand Prix of Wales in Newport last weekend.

Smyth, a member of the Irish team at last year's Paralympics in Beijing, also set a new Irish standard time of 5:24.051 when winning the 4km Pursuit after a week of strong performances from the Irish squad. The UCI has decided to extend the Pursuit distance for CP4 riders from 3km to 4km.

Smyth and the rest of the squad are in preparation for the World Road Championships in Italy in September and the World Track Championships in Manchester next November.
