A slightly delayed posting after a lovely Sunday spent between the Gerry Brannigan Memorial and the couch, this one comes in from Luke GJ Potter. He reports on the Orwell performances in the CX races across August and September, and we hope to see more as the season progresses!

13th August – Rathfarnham

Diarmuid Collins won the B Race on a great summer evening. We had no entrants in the A Race.

20th September - Skills Session with Robin Seymour

Stephen O’Shea kindly organised a skills session with 18-time national CX champ, Robin Seymour. I had been practicing alone, but having other people throwing bikes at your face is a new experience. This session was very well attended and excellently run.

27th September - Fixx SuperCross Round 1: Grange Castle

It was a lovely day. The sun was peering out from behind the clouds causing pleasant temperature changes. There was a big crowd of racers and spectators. There was a decent size Orwell Support section with Ann, Breda, Brianne, Dick, Siobhan and Eugene making the trip out.

It’s unclear what happened with Aishling’s timing chip, but there are several eye witness accounts of her on course. Sandra had a crash on Lap 3. There was some confusion with the final lap, Monica didn’t complete it.

Eric, Phillippe and Richard were in the A Race startlist of 84.

Aidan scored a 10th place in the B Race. Six of the 109 entrants were from Orwell.
