Following on from Eamons post

In the spirit of “reduce your contacts”, the Winter Spin organisers are not planning on restarting before Christmas.

(This will also avoid large groups converging on Dundrum, especially over the next 3 busy weekends).

We would encourage those who cycle in small pods to continue to do so in compliance with club guidelines.

We will continue to review the situation based on the outlook in January.

Have a Safe Christmas

Im know Im starting to sound like a broken record

We are heading back into Level 5

While participation in outdoor sports training is allowed, we need to be mindful of the fact that Every Contact Counts.

As a result Winter Club spins will not start in January.
Reasons include:
  • It would not be possible to dispatch multiple groups of 8 riders without increasing contacts.

  • It is not feasible to design a route with sufficient coffee options to prevent groups building up at stops mid ride.

  • There is significant potential for confusion if we use multiple routes on a given day.

I would encourage all to keep cycling - in small, consistent pods.

There are about 20 routes in the Orwell Library on RWGPS that stay inside Dublin County. (8 of these are public, the rest are restricted to Orwell members). There is a good mix, with distances from 30km to 200km. There are a couple of flat ones with almost no climbing (290m). If you need to burn off the roast potatoes and pudding there is one with 3375m of ascent.

The Winter Spin organisers will review the situation when we get back to Level 3.

Joe, we know the Spins Committee members think day and night of our wellbeing. We'll wait patiently in our pods for the coming of the new dawn, whenever it may be. And those 200 km/3,300m challenges are always there!
Happy Christmas!
Tom
